How it plays. You run one telescope for three nights. Each night offers a dozen observation windows, each with a time span and a science value. Pick a set of non-overlapping windows β€” the telescope can only look at one target at a time β€” then Lock night to bank it. Windows that touch exactly at an endpoint do not overlap.
score per night = round(1000 Γ— your value Γ· exact optimum)
The optimum is exact weighted interval scheduling: sort by end time, DP over compatible predecessors, computed in your browser and revealed when you lock the night.
final score = sum of the 3 night scores (max 3000).
Every player gets the same three nights (fixed seeds) β€” fair leaderboards.
Nights: N1 Β· N2 Β· N3, 12 windows each. Values 10–99, half-hour grid, 1–4 hour durations.
