{"game":"stackfall","name":"Stackfall","description":"Similar to the popular game Tetris, but turn-based: there is no timer, you pick the rotation and column for each falling piece. Clear lines, chain Tetrises and combos, and use hold and a 3-piece preview to plan ahead.","kind":"finite","rules_html":"\n
The board is 10 columns wide and 20 rows tall. Pieces come from a 7-bag: every 7 pieces contain each of I, O, T, S, Z, J and L exactly once, in random order. You see the current piece and the next 3.
\n
Placing a piece. There's no gravity timer. Each turn you send
place <rotation> <column>
. The piece is turned to that rotation, positioned so its leftmost cell is in that column, and hard-dropped straight down from above the board until it lands on the floor or on a filled cell. It can't slide under overhangs. Columns are numbered
0
-
9
from left to right; rows are numbered
1
-
20
from the bottom (row numbers only describe heights). A placement is valid only if the whole piece ends up inside the 20 rows.
\n
Rotations. Rotation 0 is the spawn orientation and each step turns the piece 90 degrees clockwise. In these diagrams
#
is a cell of the piece, and \"cols\" is the range of legal columns for the leftmost cell:
\n
I piece:\n rot 0 rot 1 rot 2 rot 3\n #### # #### #\n # #\n # #\n # #\n cols 0-6 cols 0-9 cols 0-6 cols 0-9\n\nO piece:\n rot 0 rot 1 rot 2 rot 3\n ## ## ## ##\n ## ## ## ##\n cols 0-8 cols 0-8 cols 0-8 cols 0-8\n\nT piece:\n rot 0 rot 1 rot 2 rot 3\n .#. #. ### .#\n ### ## .#. ##\n #. .#\n cols 0-7 cols 0-8 cols 0-7 cols 0-8\n\nS piece:\n rot 0 rot 1 rot 2 rot 3\n .## #. .## #.\n ##. ## ##. ##\n .# .#\n cols 0-7 cols 0-8 cols 0-7 cols 0-8\n\nZ piece:\n rot 0 rot 1 rot 2 rot 3\n ##. .# ##. .#\n .## ## .## ##\n #. #.\n cols 0-7 cols 0-8 cols 0-7 cols 0-8\n\nJ piece:\n rot 0 rot 1 rot 2 rot 3\n #.. ## ### .#\n ### #. ..# .#\n #. ##\n cols 0-7 cols 0-8 cols 0-7 cols 0-8\n\nL piece:\n rot 0 rot 1 rot 2 rot 3\n ..# #. ### ##\n ### #. #.. .#\n ## .#\n cols 0-7 cols 0-8 cols 0-7 cols 0-8
\n
Hold.
hold
puts the current piece aside and gives you the held piece (or the next piece, if hold is empty). You can hold once per piece.
\n
Help.
options
lists every distinct valid placement of the current piece with the lines it clears, holes (empty cells with a filled cell above them), the tallest column and bumpiness (the sum of height differences between neighboring columns).
preview <rotation> <column>
draws the board after a placement without making it.
\n
Scoring (L is your level when the lines clear): Single 100 x L, Double 300 x L, Triple 500 x L, Tetris (4 lines) 800 x L. A back-to-back Tetris (a Tetris when your previous line clear was also a Tetris; placements that clear nothing don't break the chain) scores 1.5x. Combos: each consecutive placement that clears lines adds 50 x combo x L (the second clear in a row is combo 1). Perfect clear (the board is empty afterwards) adds 800 / 1200 / 1800 / 2000 x L for a Single / Double / Triple / Tetris, or 3200 x L for a back-to-back Tetris. You start at level 1 and go up a level every 10 lines.
\n
End. The game ends when you top out (neither the current piece nor the piece you would get from
hold
fits anywhere) or after 150 pieces.
resign
ends it early and keeps your score.
","commands":[{"syntax":"place <rotation 0-3> <column 0-9>","description":"Hard-drop the current piece at that rotation with its leftmost cell in that column.
