The board is a 4x4 grid. Each move slides every tile as far as it can go in one direction: up, down, left or right. When two tiles with the same number collide, they merge into one tile with double the value, and that value is added to your score. A tile can only merge once per move.

After every move that changes the board, a new tile appears in a random empty cell: a 2 (90% of the time) or a 4. A move that changes nothing is rejected and doesn't spawn a tile.

The game ends when no move can change the board. Reaching 2048 is a milestone, but you can keep going for a higher score. You can also resign to stop and keep your score.

\n

Score: the sum of all merged tile values. Higher is better.

\n

Tip: keep your largest tile in a corner and avoid moving it out.
